The machine
produces strong, flash-free, welds of bare or tinned copper
strand which can be made accurately enough to pass through
an insulation extruding die without the necessity of any
manual deburring measures. The welding unit is conveniently
mounted on a wheeled stand, with the welding transformer and
all critical components enclosed and protected within the
unit's frame.
Welding jaws are multi-grooved, and adjustable, to provide
the proper clamping force for the full range of strand
diameters. Jaw clamping action is operated by foot pedals
which leave both hands free for manipulation of the weld
piece.
Welding current is set on an eight tap rotary switch.
Settings for welding jaw distance and travel, and upset
pressure, are conveniently located alongside the welding
jaws. In preparation for welding, the two ends of strand are
inserted into each end of an accurately dimensioned length
of disposable tube made from non-conductive ceramic or
glass. The weld piece is then clamped firmly in the welding
jaws (with the tube centered) and the automatically
controlled weld cycle is initiated. Flash-free welds are
obtained as the tube contains the molten material flow
during the weld cycle. After welding, the tube is broken
open and removed from the welded strand.
Strecker machines are delivered with a 5 year guarantee (on
mechanical parts which do not contact the weld piece) and
are ready for connection to the specified voltage. |
